There are so many things I hope to experience with you as you grow up. I imagine your first day of school, your first sleepover, and what kind of friends you’ll make. I picture myself coaching your teams, or if you’re more artistic like your mom then I’ll try my best to join in with whatever projects you create together. I want to be there to see you fall in love, experience a little heartbreak, and eventually find “the one” just like I did. I even bought a watch the year you were born and planned to give it to your husband on your wedding day. In other words, no matter where you decide to go, or what you decide to do, I’m so excited for the person you’ll become and I want nothing more than to be there every step of the way.
Unfortunately, sometimes things don’t go as planned no matter how badly I wish it wasn’t so. The reality is I may only be around for a small fraction of what I hoped for. You may not even really remember me. I have no words to tell you how much it breaks my heart to imagine leaving you so much earlier than expected. I promise you I will fight up until my very last breath and I will do literally anything if it means we get more time together.
So that brings us to the purpose of this blog. I want to share some memories and maybe try to pass on a few things I think I’ve learned about life. I don’t claim to have it all figured out, but I think maybe some of what I know can be helpful in living a happy life. If nothing else, I hope when you read this you get a feeling for how much I love you. It’s no substitute for me telling you over and over in person, and believe me, even though you’re barely turning one you’re probably already tired of hearing it, but if I don’t make it very long then I don’t know what else I can do besides write it all down.
So that’s it. You’ll find out very quickly I’m far from a professional writer, so hopefully you’ll forgive me if the posts lack a certain rhythm or polish. As of right now, I can barely figure out how to edit this website. By the time I’m done, I hope this gives you an idea of who I am, and above all else, I hope you never forget I love you with all my heart.
